Role Overview: The Electrical Design Contingent Engineer supports projects through electrical design activities, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure solutions meet performance, cost, manufacturing, and timeline targets. The role involves hands-on design, prototyping, assembly trials, and coordination with internal teams and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical design tasks, develop new or improved designs using 3D modeling and 2D drawings, considering manufacturability, environmental factors, and cost.
- Recommend optimized solutions to address problems or reduce costs while meeting project goals.
- Conduct engineering calculations, design wire harnesses, and perform tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure proper assembly.
- Collaborate with departments to deliver practical, high-quality electrical designs on time.
- Participate in assembly and manufacturing trials, and liaise with vendors and project teams, including travel to various sites.
- Maintain accurate BOMs, drawings, and documentation, and follow up on design issues during review meetings.
- Support Design for Manufacturing activities and ensure designs meet targets for performance, durability, weight, and cost.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related fields.
- 3–5+ years of electrical design experience, preferably in automotive, aerospace, or high-performance industries.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA V5/V6), with strong knowledge of high-voltage systems and wire harness design.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, interpret drawings, BOMs, and apply GD&T principles.
- Experience with DFM practices, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage time effectively.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
